CellAED Critical Recall
What You Need to Do Now
RRR Manufacturing Pty Ltd — maker of the CellAED — has gone into liquidation. The TGA has issued a Critical Recall for all lots of the CellAED non-rechargeable public AED.
TGA Statement: “Without ongoing support such as maintenance, servicing and handling of faults there is an increased risk of safety or performance problems, meaning the device may not work as intended in an emergency… the device may not work as intended to treat Sudden Cardiac Arrest, which could lead to serious harm or death. If you have a CellAED device, do not use it.“
We Never Stocked the CellAED — Here’s Why
The Defibshop was approached to stock the CellAED. We declined — we were not clinically convinced the device would reliably deliver a life-saving shock when it mattered most. We only stock AEDs we would trust in the hands of a bystander in a real Sudden Cardiac Arrest. That decision was based on our many years of combined experience as paramedics and professionals who have used defibrillators and successfully revived Sudden Cardiac Arrest patients. The device never performed to a clinical standard we’d stake someone’s life on — and the TGA Critical Recall has confirmed our concerns.
If You Own a CellAED, You Have Three Urgent Tasks
